Modifying your document with illustrator Cs6 Tutorial

In this movie, I'll show you how I created the document that you see before you on screen. I'll give you a rough sense for what you can do in Illustrator and also give us a chance to save our changes in the very next movie. The name of the file is 8-page newsletter. ai is found inside the O1makedoc folder, and you can see that I've label each of my artboards with these big numbers. And each one of the numbers is exactly centered on the page. I am excited to show you how I did that because it's a really cool technique. So I am going to starts things off by going up to the Select menu and choosing the All Command, or you can press Ctrl+A , or Command+A on a Mac, that's going to select all eight of those numbers. And then I'll press the Shift key and Click on the 1 in order to deselect it, and you can see that is no longer selected because its baseline is disappeared. And the baseline is the imaginary line upon which all text sets, so in other words...

Advanced document controls in illustrator cs6 tutorial

In this movie I'll introduce you to the Advanced Controls that are available to you in creating a new document   in illustrator cs6 , they are not really any more advanced in what we've seen so far. It just happened to reside in an area of the dialog box called Advanced. We will go up to the File menu and choose a New command to bring up my New Document dialog box And I'll go ahead and call this document 8-page newsletter because that's what it's going to be. And I'll go ahead and change the Number of Artboards to 8 as well. And change the number of Columns to 4 so that the Artboards are arranged in 4 columns and 2 rows. I'm going to switch back to the default unit of measure Points just so that I can show you that you can override the unit of measure anytime you like. So notice that Illustrator has gone ahead and converted all of my inch settings, my active Points which is why now my Artboards are going to be 432 pts wide and 576 pts tall. I...

Creating a new document in Illustrator CS6 Tutorial

In this movie, I will show you how to create a new document inside Illustrator CS6 Tutorial . Like most of the movies in this course, this one has cross-platform. So even though I'm showing you how things work on a PC, everything works exactly the same on a Mac. You start off much as you might imagine by going to the File menu and choosing the New command where you have that standard keyboard shortcut Ctrl+N here on a PC, or Command+N on a Mac. That'll go ahead and bring up the New Document dialog box. Your first option is to name the document. Now technically you don't name the file until you save it, however this gives you a chance to identify the document upfront. I am just going to paste in a name I created in advance because I am a terrible typist.  The next option allows you to select from a few predefined Profiles all of which will dial in settings inside this dialog box. So if you intend to create a document for Commercial Reproduction then you sel...

2- Opening from the Windows desktop in Illustrator CS6 Tutorial Video

The main advantage of Adobe Illustrator CS6, and one of the things that differentiates it from its pixel pushing counterparts, is that it is a vector-based image editing program. If you're new to Adobe Illustrator, you might not know exactly what that means. So in this movie, I will be walking you through exactly what a vector graphic is and how it can help you develop a more versatile graphic. So think of it like this. In traditional image editing applications like Photoshop, you're limited in terms of the output size or quality, based on the number of pixels or resolution that reside inside of an image. This means he must constantly be aware of the DPI or PPI settings of your document, because the files are inherently resolution dependent. Now in some cases you can't get around this, like photographs for instance. Photographs cannot be taken in a vector format. They're made of pixels and they had to stay made of pixels. Therefore, that's when you wou...

Adobe Illustrator CS6 Tutorial Pie Chart tool.

First draw out a chart with the Pie Chart tool. First you put in the information for your chart, or import it from an excel file: Your chart will look like this at first. (You might have a legend, too.) I prefer colored charts instead of the grayscale default Illustrator makes. Using the white arrow select a slice and choose a color from your swatches to change it. To make your chart 3d, select it first with the black arrow. Then go to Filters>3D>Extrude and Bevel. Use the settings in the example below: Now your chart should look like this. You can pull apart and edit the individual slices with the white pointer tool. Since the title of my information is about mutations, I’ll draw some mutations on the different slices, starting with the dark purple. I drew the hand and shadows around it on a separate layer with the pen tool. I also locked the chart layer while I was doing this. I drew the eye on the same layer with the pen tool.
